Turtuk is a village located in the Leh district of the Indian union territory of Ladakh. It is situated in the Nubra Valley, close to the Line of Control between India and Pakistan. Turtuk was under Pakistani control until 1971 when the Indian army captured it during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. It is a small village sandwiched between the Karakorum Range and the HimalayasTurtuk is known for its scenic beauty, apricot orchards, and the unique culture of the Balti people who reside there.
